Giganews announced today their rentention has reached 300, a first for Usenet service providers,  and will reach 365 in August.

Official Statement from Giganews:

Today, Giganews eclipsed another Usenet landmark by reaching 300 days of binary retention. This milestone stands as the longest binary retention provided by any Usenet provider – ever.

Three-hundred days of retention means that Giganews stores more data for a longer period of time than any other Usenet provider.

“Reaching 300 days of retention is a definite high-water mark for us and for Usenet as a whole,” Philip Molter, CTO at Giganews, said, “As the industry leader, we are excited to offer such lengthy retention times to our customers, and we continue to work toward our goal of a full year’s worth of binary retention.”

Giganews continues to upgrade storage and plans to reach 365 days of retention in August 2009. The countdown to 365 is updated daily on www.giganews.com.
